Thanks GOD It's Friday!!

I know I am not the only one that is exhausted after a long week. Raise your hand if you are ready for the weekend!!!

Since "NOTHING" is happening regarding the birth of my daughter (can you tell I am still bitter about this?!?), I am keeping busy at home. I was told by the dr. that misery was in my future. Those last 3 weeks, you just start spitting venom you are so miserable. But I was feeling fine and thought nothing of it. The next day, the misery began. But I am not that person that can sit on the couch and relax when there are things to be done. Plus, I always feel guilty when E is working on the house and I am relaxing. So, instead of putting my feet up, I decided to put a coat of paint on the walls of the laundry room, do the baby's laundry, and help E install the new carpet tiles.
I felt so bad for him scraping the old vinyl tiles off of the floor but we put all of the carpet tiles we had down and realized we only had enough to do about half of the room. So he put down as much as he could and then laid in the floor and wrestled with Maggie on the new carpet!!

Baby Buys

While we were home for the holidays, E picked out a few things for the baby...yes the baby who is still a month away from making her grand appearance. He picked out some pajamas for her and some socks, etc...but the strangest thing was this...

You think that's funny what till you see what he bought her at the grocery store a week or so later....

I am curious if our daughter has a chance of being normal with her dad forcing the Daring Book for Girls and Schoolhouse Rock DVD down her throat long before birth.

Brushing Maggie's Teeth

E decided Saturday morning that he was would brush Maggie's teeth. Normally we would let the vet or the groomers deal with that but not that day. He is a picture of the struggle. Maggie's wanted to eat the brush and chew on E's fingers...just a little bit...and E wanted to go ahead and get his done.

It wouldn't have been so bad if he hadn't sent me to get his own personal toothbrush for the task!! Luckily, he had just gotten back from the dentist and had received a new one.

E Revelations

Lately, I am noticing that everytime I turn around, E is building a backyard fire in the firepit. It doesn't matter that it's 85 degrees outside, evidently we are in desperate need for a fire every night of the week. This weekend was no different. After starting a fire on Friday and Saturday night, E came home from church on Sunday around lunch and immediately started throwing logs onto the fire. I will never understand men and the attraction to burn things!! We sat around the fire and reminisced about where we were 5 years ago and if we every thought we would be discussing house renovations around fire, in Texas, with a dog, and a baby on the way. Our life has completely turned out much different than I, personally, expected 5 years ago when we got engaged. In a good way though.

Other new things about E I am noticing is his need for a project. I honestly think that's why he got his master's degree. And once the program ended, he walked around the house for the first few days trying to find something to do. But, no worries, I have enough projects around the house that he is getting excited about and they will keep him quite busy for a few months. Hopefully, the renovation funds will keep up with him. And I think I overheard him talking with our Sunday School teacher about substitute teaching our class. I don't know if I will ever get him all figured out.

School Days are Over

Well, E finished his next to last class last night. Ahhhh...(that was my sigh of relief). I have really needed a break lately. When E is in school, I take on everything (except for mowing the lawn) so that he can focus soley on school work. But being pregnant, exhausted and sick at the same time made things...well...interesting. Our house has been is such disarray for such a long time. Luckily, I finally got some energy back last week and decided to actually keep house again. But the laundry, cooking, the yard, the errands, Maggie and the housework take a toll on me and by the time he is done with school and finally gets a break, I am ready for one too. Only one more class to go and then we are home free. No more school bills, no more waking up at 2 inthe morning when he finally crawls into bed, no more weekend exhaustion...I will actually get my husband back...and just in time to start doing some work around the house before the baby comes. We have so many projects that we wanted to finish this year and I am starting to see the year get away from us with no hope for those projects in site.

On the baby note...E took a belly picture this weekend for me. It didn't turn out so well so I will retake again soon and post it then. Don't worry though. You aren't missing anything. I just look like I normally do when I don't exercise. Nothing significant popping out yet!

Happy Anniversary E!

For real this time...

Well, today is mine and E's fourth anniversary. We normally don't do much for celebrations. Maybe have a speial dinner or something low key like that. Even Christmas and Birthdays are like that too. If we need stuff, we just get it throughout the year. But this year, E went out of his way as a anniversary/congratulations we're having a baby present and bought me a kitchenaid stand mixer. And it's red!! If you missed this post, click here for the back story!!

For the past few weeks, E has been eying this compressor and nail gun at Home Depot. Those things are expensive!! I have been trying to put him off and put him off to no avail. I have even had friends that have offered to borrow theirs but E is always afraid he will break it and then have to buy them another one. I don't blame him for that. So when we wen tto Home Depot this weekend, I made sure to take a subtle interest in which one he wanted. I figured out what he needed and was planning on going to the store last night and getting it for him, however, he started working around the house this weekend and really needed it. So I broke down and told him what I was planning on getting him for our anniversary and that we could go and get it if he really needed it. He said "Yeah, I knew you were going to get it for me. You took an interest and asked questions about the pnuematic nail gun!!! You never do that!!"

So we went Sunday and I let him pick out the stuff he wanted and a new utility light (??? somehow that ended up in the buggy at checkout time) So Happy Anniversary E! I love you more today than I did 4 years ago and I am super excited about all of the next steps we are planning to take together. Me, Sweet Pea and Maggie appreciate the way you take care of us.

Happy Anniversary???

Me and E have committed to getting up early to exercise this week and so when the alarm clock went off this morning at 5am, he rolled over and said "Happy Anniversary BB." I am sure I had a puzzled look on my face because he then asked "When's our anniversary again?"

To give you a clue into our life, we got married at the court house in california while E was out there doing training for several months. Honestly and truthfully, yours truly needed health insurance. And then 2 months later when he came home, we got married at the beach with all of our family and friends. So technically, we have 2 anniversaries. Poor guy though, he didn't get either of them. But I will say this, today is exactly the halfway point between the two dates though.

We got up, got dressed and as we were headed out the door, I couldn't find him anywhere. The back door was open so I walked out onto the patio where I saw the garage door was open. He came out and had a box in his hand. I followed him into the kitchen where he says "Happy Anniversary" again and present the box as a gift. He's so sweet. We typically don't do gifts on special occasions and we surprised me on a day that ... wasn't even our anniversary. Oh...sorry...you were probably waiting to find out what I got:

That's what I got!! Some of you readers might be thoroughly offended that my husband would get me a kitchen appliance for my anniversary, but he knows me well. I have been wanting one of these for a while now and he knew it. E, if you are reading this, YOU ARE THE BEST and I am lucky to have you!! Happy Anniversary to you too!

Weekend Catch-up

Well, E is home and I am super glad. Maggie has been crazy all weekend. She has really taken to him and doesn't understand when he leaves. This weekend while he was gone, I took her jogging on Saturday morning and then we played chase in the backyard for about 30 minutes along with a perpetual game of fetch!! She slept the rest of the day. She was SUPER tired!! I was folding laundry and looked over and saw her asleep like this. She didn't even flincth when the flash went off.

Sunday, I, again, had lots to do. Many errands to run and lunch with friends. So when I finally came home, I had a surprise for her. I brought her home a furry caterpillar. HOLY COW her reaction to the new toy was unbelievable and she hasn't let go since. Within 45 minutes, that poor caterpillar was legless, without eyeballs, and she had already pulled the stuffing out of 2 of the 6 segments.

Then her focus shifted to E's possessions...his work hat and his GRE scores...E was not happy about that!!
Then it turned to my chocolate bar. By then I was done making dinner and finally paid attention to her and noticed the mess!!! Sigh! It feels like all I do is clean up her messes.

But E is back home now so hopefully she will calm down a little bit. She was so happy to see him that she jumped out of the car at the airport while he was loading his luggage. Sigh again! Luckily we have a podunk airport and no one was there!

People tell me this is good preparation for kids!!! Whew! I still don't think I am ready for that!

Lonely Days

Well, E is gone an ANOTHER business trip this week. I am glad this is the last one for a while. I feel like we barely see each other anymore because of all of the business trips we both have been on lately!

But I forgot that I took this picture of him and Maggie in bed together the morning he left and I thought it was cute!

Gone Camping

So while I was in San Antonio, E was going to take Maggie on a camping trip with our Sunday School class. So the weekend before, we were cleaning out the garage and decided to go ahead and start getting all of the camping supplies together. When I came outside, E had setup the tent to make sure all of the parts were there. After one look at the tent, we decided to campout into the backyard since I wouldn't be able to go the next weekend on the trip. We made homemade ice cream and threw some steaks and veggies on the grill. E started a fire in the firepit and we threw out some folding chairs and sat by the fire for a while.

The funniest part was trying to persuade Maggie that it was OK to come into the the tent. She was so scared. She barked all night at every little noise she heard. The next morning, she was a little disoriented and afraid to get out of the tent because she didn't know we she was. It was so funny!!

Happy Birthday E!

Well, the time has come for the 32 year old man I am married to, to admit he is 33 now. Yesterday was E's birthday and to celebrate...we took a nap (I know how super lame that sounds but between school and work and Maggie and the house and everything that pulls us in the twelve different directions, we rarely get any down time...I realize that we are old foggies now). Ok Ok...that's not all we did. We had dinner at Outback since he wanted a steak and then he had his choice of a movie to rent. For the most part, we like the same movies with the exception of Kung Fu movies. I asked him what he wanted to do before he turned 34...he just stared at me with a blank face. Maybe it's just me...since I am on a countdown tour of my twenties with only three years left to go. I still have so many things I want to do before I turn thirty and yet, I don't know what any of those things are.

I can't remember who took this picture of us when we were dating about 5 years ago when he came on family vacation with us to the beach. Here's a little irony for you all though, this actually turned out to be to be the exact spot that we got married a year later.

Since he gets his Master's at the end of the fall, I promised him a short vacation of his choice since neither of us did anything big when we graduated college or high school. Automatically my mind started thinking of all of the different places he might want to go: the cruise he has wanted for a few years now, to see friends in Seattle, back to San Francisco to do all of the things we should have done when he lived there, back to Florida, a quiet weekend on the beach, Gatlinburg to hike in the mountains, go home to Huntsville for a visit with family...I was getting pumped. We ate a little bit of our dinner and then I asked him "So have you thought about where you want to go on your graduation trip?" E says "Oh, was I supposed to?" Sigh...I don't know why I try!

Birthday wishes to E, the man who is always one step ahead of me, smarter than me, funnier than me, cuter than me, ...who over-protects me, tolerates me, and spoils me. I hope the next few years of constant harrassment are just as fun and interesting as the the harrassment days behind us. I pray you find health and happiness all year long. Te amo mucho!
